What we lack is urgency and consistency. The responsibility does not lie solely with leaders or institutions. It lies with each of us. Every piece of litter not picked up, every unnecessary wasteful choice, every moment of indifference contributes to the problem.

It appears that after the world came together and took action to stop using the major chemical identified as the culprit causing ozone depletion, the ozone layer began to heal itself. The gaping hole has closed, and the thickness of the ozone layer today is almost the same as it was before the 1980s.
